Gifts for Dog Lovers: Sweet, Funny and Useful Ideas

Dog lovers are easy to spot. Their phone is full of dog photos, their car seats are covered in fur, and their dog has more toys than they do. Finding a gift that feels personal takes a little more thought.

Here are gifts for dog lovers that are sweet, funny or genuinely useful, most of them under $50.

Sentimental gifts for dog lovers

Dog fur keepsake keychain

This one gets tears. The dog fur keepsake keychain is a clear, breed-shaped charm with a hidden compartment for a pinch of their dog's real fur. Choose from 20 breeds, from Golden Retrievers and Huskies to Frenchies and Corgis. It's also a gentle, thoughtful gift for someone who has recently lost a dog.

Cozy gifts for dog lovers

Pet pouch hoodie

For the person whose small dog follows them from room to room. The pet pouch hoodie has a front kangaroo pocket where a puppy or toy-breed dog can snuggle in, hands-free. It comes in 9 colors and sizes XXS to XXL, perfect for Christmas morning photos.

Useful gifts for dog walkers

Dog umbrella leash

Every dog owner has stood in the rain begging their dog to just go already. The clear dog umbrella leash keeps a small dog dry on rainy walks, then works as a regular leash on sunny days. Our tips for walking a small dog in the rain show why it helps.

Portable dog water bottle

The 3-in-1 dog water bottle has a built-in drinking trough for walks and hikes. The Eat & Drink version adds a treat compartment. It's a great stocking stuffer for anyone who hikes with their dog.

Gifts for small-dog people

Costume carrier tote

Small dogs want to come everywhere. The Peek-a-Boo small dog carrier tote lets a dog under 15 lb ride along with their head out, dressed as a bee, dinosaur, pig, bunny or burger. Expect strangers to stop them on the sidewalk.

Plush pet sofa bed

The Cloud Couch pet bed works for small dogs too, with raised sides for leaning and a deep, warm center.

Gift tips

• Know the breed and size. It matters for the keychain, the carrier and the hoodie pouch.
• Order early. Holiday shipping slows down in December.
• Pair a gift for the human with one for the dog. A keychain plus a water bottle covers both.
